Swertia paniculata kiratatikta

Swertia paniculata Wall.
Family: Gentianaceae
Synonym: Swertia dilatata C.B. Clarke, Ophelia paniculata, Ophelia wallichii, Swertia gracilescens
Sanskrit: kiratatikta किराततिक्त
Hindi: charaita
Used as a substitute for Swertia chirayita.
The root gave xanthones (including swerchirin and bellidifolin); flavone- C-glycosides—swertisin and homoorientin.  The plant gave polyoxygenated xanthones and xanthone-O-glucosides; also a pentacyclic triterpenehederagenin.
