Diuretic, purgative, expectorant. Used in fevers, and gastric and scrofulous ailments. The plant contains flavonoids, datiscin and datiscanin. EtOH (50%) extract of seeds and flowers exhibited marked sedative, highly anti-inflammatory, mild analgesic, antipyretic and diuretic activity in rats.
