Evergreen trees, to 7 m high, bark grey. Leaves simple, opposite, estipulate; petiole 10-40 mm long, slender, grooved above, glabrous; lamina 6.4-17.5 x 2.5-5.5 cm, elliptic, obovate, ovate-lanceolate or elliptic-lanceolate, base acute or obtuse, apex acuminate, margin entire or slightly serrate, glabrous, chartaceous; lateral nerves 4-6 pairs, pinnate, prominent, intercostae reticulate, prominent, domatia present. Flowers bisexual, white, 3 mm across, in terminal or subterminal umbellate corymbs; bracteoles deciduous; calyx tube 2 mm long, pubescent, lobes 5, persistent, obtuse; corolla tube 4 mm long, tubular, glabrous; lobes 5, short, ovate-obtuse, erect, ciliate; stamens 5, inserted on the corolla tube; filaments short; ovary inferior, oblong, 1-celled, ovules 1, pendulous; style short, stigma 3 lobed.
