Ayurvedic Uses: Sula, Udara Roga, Apachi, Arsha, Medoroga, Chardi, Adhmana, Granthi, Bhagandara, Hrudroga, jwara, Svitra, Varhiraya, Danta roga, Rakta Vikara.
Astringent, pectoral (ashes of the plant used in asthma and cough), diuretic, hepatoprotective, emmenagogue. Benzene extract of the plant exhibited abortifacient activity. The flowers, ground and mixed with sugar, are given for menorrhagia. Roots—astringent, haemostatic. Seeds—emetic; used for biliousness. Essential oil—antifungal. Plant is boiled, and the water drunk as an antipyretic,  antiseptic or for washing the skin as treatment
for cold sweat, boiled and used for herbal bath, back pain, influenza.

Unani uses: Daf-e-Zahar-e-Aqrab, Kasir-e-Riyah, Muqawwi-e-Meda, Mudirr-e-Baul, Mohallil-e-Auram, Munaffis-e-Balgham, Musaffi-e-Dam. Nafakh wa Dard-e-Shikam, Sual, Zeeq-un- Nafas, Sang-e-Masana, Bawaseer-Khooni.
